Description Long

The shooting phase aims to collect both data and knowledge, and to produce a rough cut. What does this actually mean? Interviews are held, sufficient video and audio are recorded, documents and data are collected, but onsite research is also conducted. It is not solely about the shooting process, but also about understanding the topic and answering the questions. It is essential that the roles be divided between the members of the group, for example, filming, conducting interviews, organisation. You must adhere to the screenplay, but it is also crucial that you have an understanding of the topic, and you must continue to investigate on location, during the interviews, and ask additional questions or shoot new scenes.

At the end of a day of shooting, delete unsuitable elements and archive the viable material in a structured manner, for example, by labelling the files according to time, place, individuals involved, data collected, relevance, and so forth. This process will save time during post-production. Note your goal-oriented thoughts and ideas – this will come in handy during the cutting phase.
