Description Long

Ambiguous images help prepare the mind for new ways of thinking. They are particularly useful in creative workshops or as a warm-up for brainstorming sessions. The aim of the exercise is to sharpen visual perception and raise participants’ awareness of different perspectives. Starting a workshop by exploring and interpreting ambiguous images is enjoyable and stimulates both careful observation and active thinking. "I spy with my little eye..." adds a playful touch, lightens the mood, and helps build confidence.

Preparation

  • Find a selection of ambiguous images, making sure to choose ones that are relatively unknown.
  • Print the images on cards or prepare a presentation on the computer.

Execution

  1. The participants are told that the purpose of using ambiguous images is to encourage them to see things from a different perspective, which stimulates creative thinking.
  2. The images are presented, and participants are given time to discover the hidden elements within them.
  3. As a follow-up exercise, participants are invited to consciously shift between the different images contained within each illusion.

Hints from experience

  • If someone doesn’t spot the image straight away, offer hints – but avoid giving away the solution directly.
